Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats

FRB training builds upon the skills learned during the Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boat course taken as a prerequisite to this course. It is essential training required by those whose duty on board a vessel is to crew the Fast Rescue Boat.

Description

This three-day course provides the advanced skills and knowledge needed to operate Fast Rescue Boats (FRB). Building on the foundation of the STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB) course, this training focuses on the safe and effective operation of FRBs in emergency situations. You'll gain hands-on experience with launch and recovery gear, boat handling, and engine operation.

What You'll Master

This course is designed to give you comprehensive control over all aspects of FRB operation. Upon completion, you will be able to:

  • Understand FRB Systems: Gain a complete understanding of the construction, outfitting, and associated equipment of an FRB.

  • Launch and Recover: Take charge of the FRB and its launching equipment during both deployment and recovery.

  • Perform Maintenance: Confidently perform routine maintenance and contingency repairs on the FRB.

  • Conduct Rescue Operations: Lead search and rescue operations and effectively recover casualties.

  • Manage Emergencies: Know how to prevent and manage capsize situations to ensure the safety of everyone on board.

By the end of this course, you will be fully prepared to take command of a Fast Rescue Boat in a wide range of emergency scenarios.

Prerequisites

Before commencing this Fast Rescue Boat training, learners must have obtained a Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than fast rescue boats). You must also be at least 18 years of age.
